Healthy Marriages and Families

The Family Ministry exists to provide marriages and families the opportunity to grow Godly homes. We give couples and parents the opportunity to learn Biblical principles to apply to their marriages and families. Our goal is to create a community of Christ-centered families who can encourage and edify one other.

Reach, Teach, and Release

Reach—We desire to draw marriages and families to Christ. Our goal is to provide opportunities for couples and parents to gather for events, activities, and trainings, which will enable them to build a Christ-centered community.

Teach—We are going to create a space where marriages and families can learn practical ways to apply Scripture to real-life issues. Our intent is to give direction and guidance to families so they can thrive and flourish.

Release—We want our marriages and families to apply the training they receive to their home life. We also desire to see families live out the Gospel in their communities as the salt and light in a broken world.

What are the requirements for getting married at SECC?

The requirements to be married at Southeast or to be married by a Southeast Minister are:

Complete our informational sheets (call the Marriage Ministry at 502.253.8000 for more information)
Attend a 5-week pre-marital class
Participate in our marriage mentoring program
Meet with your Wedding Coordinator
Meet with the Minister who will perform your ceremony

What marriage and family classes does Southeast Christian Church offer?

We offer marriage classes for couples covering multiple topics, including new marriage, strengthening a healthy marriage, and providing help for a marriage in crisis. We also offer parenting classes for couples and single parents to develop healthy habits and proactive steps for getting ahead of the chaos of family life.

How can my marriage or family receive help from the Family Ministry if we are in a crisis?

As a staff we consult with couples and families in need and will provide a game plan for healing and hope. Our Pastors are happy to meet with you and develop a plan of action for your family and marriage. We partner with professional counselors and have classes geared to addressing your specific situation.

What volunteer opportunities does the Family Ministry offer?

The Family Ministry serves in various areas, and we have service opportunities in the following ministries: Marriage Mentors, Pre-Marital Mentors, Foster-Care and Adoption Mentors, Event Planning and Setup, Wedding Coordinators, and Parenting Coaches.
